This workshop is offered in partnership with Landscape Heritage Utrecht.
The online display of your collection seems to be commonplace. Not just in websites and databases but also within the social media, we see more and more heritage collections become visible. Working on digital access has already become almost a core on this scale. However, there are still plenty of museums wherein the (basis)knowledge is lacking to properly respond to this development.
Especially for smaller cultural heritage institutions -and specifically the employees with limited knowledge in ICT, but which are responsible for translating between the museum and ICT(bureau).
You will gain insight into the aspects of the digital, durable and open present your (online) collection.
During this workshop you will discuss the considerations to present the collection or not online. Here are several examples highlighted and discussed of things that are possible for museums. You hereby in questions like 'what role will give you the public?’ and 'how do you deal with expectations of different target groups?’ There is also focus on human and financial commitment to digital collection presentations. During this workshop you work, addition to plenary sessions, in small groups to your own case. After you get the textbook "The Signpost collections on the Internet’ awarded.
